Cardiac nurse specialists. Cardium
Health cardiac registered nurses (RNs) are experienced professionals with specialized
training in cardiac care. They serve as both primary health coaches (PHC) and specialty
health coaches (SHC) for participants in our heart disease and other disease management
programs. Nurses with this expertise have experience in providing cardiac drug education
and care to patients who have undergone bypass, angioplasty, or pacemaker surgery.
Our cardiac health coaches help participants regain the hope that they can feel better.
That with proper exercise and diet, they can once again walk up stairs or across a room
without as much discomfort. With a real caring approach, our clinicians help participants
gain an understanding of the physiology of their condition including how their heart
works, how high blood pressure affects the heart and how they feel, how their prescribed
medications work, and how to make changes for a heart healthy diet.
With this understanding, adapting healthy behaviors becomes something that people want
to do not just something they have to do; and that leads to lasting change.
